Combine Same Patient with Two Duplicate Accounts
Where duplicate accounts have been created for the same patient, offer a way to combine the two records into one.
We came across multiple patient's account of same patient names that have some type of history entered already, such as x-rays, ledger or clinical notes, etc., and we can't delete them. It would be great if we can merge all those multiple names into 1 name account without just adding them into 1 family. So we don't encounter multiple identical names in same family file and then wonder which is the one we actually using so there is no confusion. Please help....
Have an option to join the two or three accounts something similar to the join and purge option for insurance tab.
Allow a way to combine duplicate patients. The process is lengthy now.
EDIT FAMILY- MERGE DUPLICATE PATIENT
- Family adopted child from overseas w/one name & was added to the family file -
- Family then changed the childs name to their own & now child has two entries in the family file & also has two patient charts -
- Customer would like to be able to merge the two charts together -
Where each chart has pertinent information from separate visits; including X-Rays, chart notes, treatment, etc.
In the family file there need to be a way to merge files. we had an instance where the same patient was entered into the system twice and now we need to merge her information.
I would like to merge two charts. This particular pt. has two tooth charts, which we don't want this, and some info is on one chart and some is on the other. We need both for the information they contain. Its confusing when looking at it. Please help.
Allow Family members in an existing family file to merge to another existing family file.

It's been a couple of years. It there a fix for this yet?
We had the same problem... a reception team member added a new patient.. Come to find out his family had been archived. The current work around per Dentrix support is to re-post the work from one account to the other and then Zero out the second account, rename it as DUPLICATE and then Archive that patient... too much work and too many possibilities for error. Our orthodontic office is using DOLPHIN and did the same thing with a patient... they have a merge utility to take care of the problem. Dentrix is SO advanced... this needs to be a feature of the utility package. :D
This should really be a no brainer for dentrix to work on. as more and more practices become chartless, having duplicate entries with all the various chartings becomes a huge PAIN!
If you are entering social security numbers on all patients, it WILL alert you that the social is not unique, therefore, regardless of possible name change, you would then search the social & find the duplicate--before entering a new acct for patient.

you can combine two accts under the edit button in the family file. I do it all the time
the very least, is that dentrix should alert you to the fact that they are already in the system.... and let you bail out of a patient you are currently creating

This is a great suggestion. I have numerous duplicate accounts from patients who come in claiming to be first time patients; however, after they have had a new family file created, we find that they have been here a few years prior. I would like to be able to combine the patient accounts to reflect the correct history on one account instead of partial history on each.

im trying to figure out how to change accounts, like if the child is on their own or if they are in twice?

Currently there is not a solution but a work around ideas in the resource center- would love to see a solution and a way to edit in the family file.
