How can we improve Dentrix?

Combine Same Patient with Two Duplicate Accounts

Where duplicate accounts have been created for the same patient, offer a way to combine the two records into one.

If this has been suggested since 2010 I think it is time dentrix joins the other programs out there where you have that ability. I have worked multiple systems and this is the only system that you don't have that opportunity.

Sometimes over the years, a patient came in and then came back 10 + years later. But a new family file/chart was opened. It would be nice to be able to merge the two files/charts together.

Dentrix should automatically identify if new patient demographics, when entered, match or are similar to an existing account. This should trigger a pop up that requires review of similar accounts prior to completion of an additional account.

We saw a patient in 2014 and he didn't tell us we had seen him. We made him a new chart. I need to merge the 2 files together because we now have 2 charts for him.

I would like to be able to access the family file or patient chart from within the office journal.

We need a feature to merge two patients together sometimes people make a mistake and enter the patient twice. Thanks

This may already be mentioned, but I could not find anything similar. We have a patient that has two family files. She came in for many years and then moved away, and when she came back somebody created a new file for her and put her in as a new patient. She only has one visit under the new file. It would be great if there was a way to merge to two files into one patient. Not like merging families, but just the individual so that all notes, x-rays, charges, etc. are included in one single chart!

This is really the most painfully obvious thing that Dentrix needs to provide but does not. Ive seen rudimentary programs that work on MS DOS that have this feature standard. The major problem here is that x rays and notes that are attached to duplicate patients make it extremely difficult to combine. This is my experience coming from 15 years chairside in practices of upwards of 10 providers. Please prioritize this.

New patients have a new file created from their appointment, but the NP status does not auto-correct on all workstations. This leads to multiple staff creating new patient files that are duplicates. If the NP status simply updated (disappeared) on all workstations as soon as one team member created a new file, duplicates would be avoided.

In DSN, if we were entering what we thought was a new patient--a pop up would come up saying "there was a patient in the system with the same name-is this the same person?" It prevented us from entering patients in more than once so we don't have duplicate charts for one patient.

option to combine patient history when patient is in system multiple times. currently it is impossible, without manually entering past procedures, to combine a patient with other family members into same family file.

We had the same problem... a reception team member added a new patient.. Come to find out his family had been archived. The current work around per Dentrix support is to re-post the work from one account to the other and then Zero out the second account, rename it as DUPLICATE and then Archive that patient... too much work and too many possibilities for error. Our orthodontic office is using DOLPHIN and did the same thing with a patient... they have a merge utility to take care of the problem. Dentrix is SO advanced... this needs to be a feature of the utility package. :D

This should really be a no brainer for dentrix to work on. as more and more practices become chartless, having duplicate entries with all the various chartings becomes a huge PAIN!

If you are entering social security numbers on all patients, it WILL alert you that the social is not unique, therefore, regardless of possible name change, you would then search the social & find the duplicate--before entering a new acct for patient.
