good idea. !! One thing we have started doing is automatically entering the spouse as a 'non patient' in the family file - even if there is no insurance

This is very important in case of allergic reaction, or any type of sudden illness. Of course we would call 911 first, but then we would immediately contact family member. This information also helps with confirming or reaching someone in case of collection purposes.

What kind of emergencies are you experiencing in your office? If it's a life threatening emergency don't you call 9-1-1?? Not worth the real estate in an already overcrowded screen IMO

I agree this is needed! It needs to be in the family file so it is easy to find!

There is an urgent need to have easy immediate access to a patient's emergency contact information. If something goes wrong in the chair who do you call? Do you have to find their physical file and sort thru forms to find that information? I think it should be part of the family file. That way it can be immediatly accessed if needed and updated regularly with all other vital information.

That is a great idea. Dentrix should have this available immediately. Dental office is not a medical facility but it is consider a health care facility why aren't there a emergency contact in here!

I totally agree, that way people won't have to enter the emergency contact info each time they update their medical history, it will 'import' into their form if you have the line in their family file, great idea!

Most definitely needed - since we are paperless we have no area where we can put emergency contact so we still need to continue scanning all the paperwork....Totally agree with Lydia!

This is greatly needed. For the offices that are chartless, we need to be able to access the information quickly. We have been putting it in the PAtient notes section of the family file, but it would be nice to have a designated area to put the information.
