Document Center Flag
Create a marker or flag to notify the doctor that a patient has information entered in Document Center.
In any module, if a patient has a document in the Document Center, the Document Center icon (Filing Cabinet) will appear to have an open drawer with files in it. If they have no documents, it will be closed.

GREAT IDEA! Enhance it by making that flag, or preforably a chronological entry in the progress notes (might read: "see scanned document") be a direct link RIGHT TO the specific document. No need to click, click, click, click, click,............. without even knowing if there will be a reward at the destination. Dr. Z

This feature already occurs by showing that their are documents in the file cabinet drawer. As for linking them to a particular appointment that might be able to be done similar to lab tracking

I agree with Neil's suggestion. We tried the flags and our team got used to click through them because there's so many and might not be relevant to back team all the time. I ussually put flags for the administrative team ie - collect from patient - and that works well. However, an alert box would work much better!

I have suggested a modification to your idea in that there should be an alert box to tell you of recent changes since last visit to a patients record. I have found that little flags on the icons get missed. Also I think if there were a way to mark the document to open when you open the chart might be worthwhile.

Sometimes a document is related to the appointment at hand so I think it would be good to be able to flag the appointment letting the doctor know that he needs to read a document before the appointment.

While it's not very obvious, Dentrix already has this functionality. Take a look at the icon for the Document Center for a patient without documents, and then add something to his/her account. You should notice that the icon changes to a file cabinet with papers overflowing. The problem is that you have to refresh Dentrix before checking the icon to make sure it displaying up-to-date information.
