Current Option: you can just print to "Document Center" and then e-mail document from document center.

Here is a great work around if you are having difficulty with emailing from the document center. You can download, for free, Cute PDF writer. open up a statement, report, or any other document you can print. Choose CutePDF as the printer. this allows you to print it to a file - meaning you get to save it as a pdf file to your desktop. From there, attach it to an email easily, regardless if you you are using an online or desktop email client. The concern is, however, that emailing anything is not HIPAA compliant. We really should not be emailing xrays to other doctors, or emailing medical/dental documents to patients. Another option is to send the patient or doctor an email with a link where they can download the document in a secure/encrypted manner. We now use efax to send/receive faxes digitally. it saves paper and ink. it saves copies of faxes forever, with the ability to delete if we choose. One of the best features is the ability to share large files securely. efax stores the file on their server, you send the email out, the receiver downloads the file, you get a confirmation email that they have downloaded the file, the file is deleted from the efax server. pretty click and very inexpensive!!

This is actually already possible in Dentrix G4, you can send a copy of a billing statment to the Document Center whenever a statement is printed or e-sent, and from there you can email the document (using the "Send Document") command in the Document Center.
In addition, using the "Send to Dentrix Document Center" printer you can send a document directly to the Document Center which will allow you to email it to the patient at a later point.
However, the email option does require that you have Outlook or a similar email software installed.

There is a third party app for everything. But who wants to deal with that and pay for that all the time. These are just basic, core components that should be part of the software.

Right now I export the statement from doc mgr. then import into outlook and send it as an attachment. Sound like a lot of work. No? Crazy is more like it.

dentrix should provide the ability to email statements directly to patients and we shouldn't be forced into a third party app for this reasonable request. thanks.

Our patients are looking for more information electronically. The ability for a patient to sign up for Ebills vs having them sent via snail mail would be very appealing to a lot of our patients.
Give them an option, through eservices quickbill.

We should be able to E-mail statements when our patients ask for them!
I thought the whole idea is to go "paperless" And you shouldn't have to buy a third party app! And what happen to instant messaging ? -

I believe there probably is a third-party app for many things that we need. The point is that we shouldn't have to spend more money on yet another app when this should be a basic Dentrix function in this day and age. Also, how do I capture "history" of what was and was not sent through a third party app and get it into Dentrix. Dentrix is supposed to be "Practice Management".

Patient's request their payments made for the previous year, or need to send the paperwork in for reimbursement to their health savings it would make it so much easier if we could just e-mail it to them from the ledger and not have to print it to the doc center.

I agree you should be able to hit a button to e-mail the ledger, walk out or copy of insurance claim directly to patient. This is simple as print screen snap shot linking to Outlook.

I agree with this suggestion. Further if the quick letters could be emailed and or printed I feel that it would be a defintie plus.

I agree with this request. I currently use an alternate program (cutepdf-free)to print to PDF, but would like to email/fax directly from dentrix vs printing to file and emailing manually.

One way to do this is to send a copy to Document Center.
First, view the report in a Print Preview. Within the preview, choose File | Print Reports. Here you can select the printer "Print to Dentrix Document Center"
Open the patient's Document Center, and Acquire the document from the Unfiled Documents window (drag and drop from Unfiled Docs to the patient, and enter a name and reference date as prompted).
Now that an electronic copy is stored in the patient document center, you can use "Send Message" to launch Outlook / Outlook Express / Windows Live Mail, and the document will be attached as a PDF. Or use "Export Document(s)" to save a PDF, and attach that to a web based email. -

This is definitely a needed feature, we would like to be able to email copies of signed questionaires to referring Drs. as well as to patients when the request them.

If we could at least export it as a PDF, then we could manually email it... But it would be better to not have to do that.

I requested the same thing but specifically for email purposes w/ the ability for online payment as well. Think of the time/money saved by our offices plus the added convenience for our patients.
