More options for Patient Status and Family Position
Provide more options for Patient Status. Allow the practice to customize Patient Status. For example: Patient, Non-patient, Non-person, Inactive, Archived, Deceased, Moved, No Response, To Collections etc. Provide more options for Family Position. Allow the practice to customize Family Postion. For example: Widowed, Deceased, Partner, Divorced etc.
Thank you for the idea!

With divorces happing in 50% of marriages, it would be nice to have that as an option in the family file status. It makes it easier to be able to know if a pt. parents are divorced. Also, adding widowed to the pt. status would be great. It eliminates asking a pt. about a spouse and having them upset when the spouse has passed.

Is there any feature that allows you to change the color of the pop up box or the profile to alert that a pt/family is in collections.

"Deceased" status would do more than just inactivate and archive the patient: when you change patient's status to "deceased", Dentrix would automatically a) Clear all Continuing Care types, b) delete all treatment planned procedures for that patient, c) delete all Alerts for the patient, d) change the spouse's status to "widow/widower" as appropriate, based on Gender field, e) ???

That's crazy to change the name.Should be very easy for Dentrix to add "Deceased".

I type in all CAPS- COLLECTION after the first name.so it will still come up alphabetically...then everyone knows if that pt is pulled up, also they are marked #9. Our office staff are the only ones to see this as no letters are sent out after they have gone to collection

To piggy back with this request...I would be extremely helpful to allow the practice to customize Marital Status, as well. We have so many Families that are divorced & remarried with different last names (Divorce Example #1-Dad gets separated from family & lives @ new address, kids live with mom & bills go to mom but dad is the primary ins holder-then mom gets remarried with new last name & has another child with primary ins through father--then, mom @ 2nd husband get divorced & their child also lives with mom & stays on their father's primary ins., then mom gets married again...now it gets confusing) Example #2- Husband & Wife Divorce-1st wife no longer is a patient, husband gets remarried & 2nd wife *has the same first name as 1st wife & becomes a patient...

Please consider collections as an option to alert staff before scheduling an appontment.

It would also be great if in the patient status under patient information if we could have the option of "FIRED". That way if someone calls in to try to make an appointment and they have been fired from the practice-then it would be seen by anyone pulling up that family info, also we could then run a report quarterly of these patients.

We are also a pedo dentist and it would be helpful to have "relationship to patient" spot in the family file. With so many split families it would help keep who's who in order. Also, in the "Other" spot for phone numbers, be able to put what "Other" is. THANK YOU!

I agree that it would be nice to organize the collection patients. Our office manager likes them archived, so the flags become inactive and it is truly a pain to have to reactivate anytime a collection payment comes in, then it also would be helpful to organize reports that way. Also would like a feature that enables you to check an archived patients last visit without reactivating them.

I assume that we are talking about the patient Status (currently you can choose "Patient" "Non-Patient" "Inactive" or "Archived")
My suggestion to handle a collection patient would be a two part process:
1. If you want a pop up to alert you that something is different about the patient, change the status to "Non-Patient" or "Inactive." That a pop up would occur when opening the Ledger, Chart, or scheduling an appointment.
2. Change the Billing Type for the family to something indicating being sent to collection (the names of the billing types can be customized in Office Manager | Maintenance | Practice Setup | Definitions). The advantage of using a billing type is that almost any report can be sorted by this filter. For example, an Aging Report, Patient Balance Report, Patient List, Billing Statements, and many more can be generated to only include patients of that specific billing type. -

When we have sent a patient to collections we create a flag with a note in all caps to do not schedule. sent to collections. We then mark that flag to show up forever. So when other staff members schedule appointments they see the note and know not to schedule.

I had just requested a way to denote a "one time patient". Our practice is on call for a 5 star hotel. We see their guest seeking emergency treatment. We want to record these emergencies as actual patients, but not include them in our current active patient reports. (It skews the numbers.) I know of other practices (here in FL) that service cruise lines customers under similar circumstances. I am sure all practices could use this feature on an occasional basis.

It doesn't work for us to change the patients' name because we are pedo, if one of the children passes and we change their name there is a possibility it might show up that way on something (ledger?)that we print for the family, how insensitive. it would be great to have deceased and divorced added!!!

We are a pedo office and being able to put DIVORCED in the status for the parents would help lower the confusion of family dynamics!! Thanks!

We just change the billing type & note in the patient file that they are in collections. Changing the billing status allows them to no longer show up when creating billing reports & I can even create a report with only those in collections.

Hi Bobbie, what STATUS are you referring to specifically? Billing Type, Appointment Status, etc?
