How can we improve Dentrix?

update insurance coverage without changining old insurance claims in Ledger history

When a patient comes in with a new dental insurance, It seems that when you change the insurance information to the new coverage, it changes the old claims that are in history (ledger) to the new insurance coverage. It should not change insurance name once the claim has been sent and paid for.

The only way to tell what the initial insurance was, is the ppo discount that might be on the old claim. That will not change after the month has been closed. Insurance names shouldn't be altered once month end has occurred.

Anonymous and Sarah are correct! It is impossible during the day to shut down dentrix on all the stations. It seems that this should be an easy fix to allow updates without changing history. THE DATA IN HISTORY SHOULD NEVER BE CHANGED!!

This is a bigger problem than you think Ryan ! To join plans I have to get everyone out of Dentrix HA this is impossible during wrk hours. So i do not want to stay after wrk or thru lunch. The simplest thing is to allow updates without changing history!! Why can this not be done ? with all you can do this seems so simple of a request

When an employer changes insurance, use the 'Join' option found in Insurance Maintenance (Office Manager | Maintenance | Reference | Insurance Maintenance) to safely clear and replace the plans from all patients who have that old policy.

        I AGREE!!!!!!!

Previously billed and closed claims are being overwritten when an employer changes dental carriers.
This is unacceptable. It becomes impossible to track when the insurance changed, who was the ACTUAL dental insurance at the time of servie and who we actually billed for the service. Please switch it back so that the ledger and claim history CANNOT be altered and will show which insurance company th more

If a Family File shows that a patient has one insurance carrier, click the "Clear Primary" or "Clear Secondary" button to remove the association with this plan. Then click the Carrier selection button and select a different or new carrier. Claims currently in the Ledger will continue to link to the previous carrier, while new claims will associate with the new carrier.

If an office go paperless, we should be able to see what insurance coverage a patient had in the past.

In Family File, if you click "Clear Primary" or "Clear Secondary" it cleanly breaks the association of existing claims in Ledger to the insurance carrier selection in Family File. Then you may select a new plan, and proceed forward making new claims associated with the new carrier.
If you need to change many patients at once (such as when an employer changes insurance carriers and this affects multiple patients), you can use the "Join Plans" option (Office Manager | Maintenance | Reference | Insurance Maintenance) to clear their current selection and replace it the insurance carrier in all patient Family Files.
